We live in a world that constantly asks us to do more, move faster, and keep going… even when we’re exhausted. It’s so easy to get caught up in that rhythm. To wake up and immediately be in “go mode,” moving from one thing to the next without ever really pausing.

But I’ve learned something (and I’m still learning it every day):
inner grace doesn’t live in the rush.

It lives in the quiet.
In the moments where you actually slow down long enough to feel like yourself again.

Why stillness matters more than we think:

For a long time, I thought slowing down meant I was falling behind. Like if I wasn’t constantly doing something, I wasn’t being productive enough. But the truth is… when we never stop, we lose connection with ourselves. Stillness gives that back. Even just a few minutes of sitting, breathing, and not doing anything can completely shift how you feel. It calms your body, clears your mind, and brings you back to center.

It’s not about doing less in life—it’s about creating space within it.

What prayer has taught me:

Prayer, to me, isn’t something rigid or formal. It’s not about saying the “right” words. It’s just… talking. Being honest. Letting things out that you’ve been holding in.

Some days it looks like asking for guidance.
Other days it’s just saying “I don’t know what I’m doing, please help.”
And sometimes it’s simply gratitude.

There’s something really comforting about not having to carry everything on your own. About releasing control, even just a little.

What meditation feels like:

If prayer is speaking, meditation feels like listening.

It’s sitting with yourself without distractions. No phone, no noise, no pressure to be anything other than what you are in that moment. And honestly—it’s not always easy. Your mind wanders. You think about your to-do list. You get uncomfortable. But that’s kind of the point. You’re learning how to be with yourself without immediately trying to fix or change anything. Over time, it gets softer. Quieter. Easier. And you start to feel more grounded in your everyday life, not just during those few minutes.

You don’t have to do it perfectly!

I think a lot of people don’t start because they feel like they need a full routine, or an hour of free time, or the “perfect” setup. You don’t.

This can look like:

  • Taking a few deep breaths before getting out of bed
  • Saying a short prayer while making your coffee
  • Sitting in silence for two minutes
  • Ending your day with one thing you’re grateful for

That’s it.

It doesn’t have to be complicated to be meaningful.

This is where inner grace begins:

Inner grace isn’t about having everything together.

It’s about how you move through your life.
How you take care of yourself.
How you respond when things feel overwhelming.

And that starts in stillness. In those small, quiet moments where you choose to slow down instead of push through.

You’re allowed to pause.
You’re allowed to breathe.
You’re allowed to not have all the answers.

You don’t need to chase inner grace.

You just need to come back to yourself…
again and again.

And sometimes, that starts with something as simple as sitting in silence for a few minutes.
